A terrifying CCTV video captures the shocking moment a five-storey PG building in Delhi’s Satya Niketan suddenly came crashing down, leaving at least seven people dead. The collapse occurred on Sunday afternoon while repair work was reportedly underway on the ground floor. Fresh footage shows a shopkeeper running for his life moments before the structure collapsed, sending a massive cloud of dust across the area. Eleven people have been rescued so far, while around 30 to 50 students were initially feared trapped beneath the rubble. NDRF teams, rescue personnel and a canine squad have been deployed as rescuers continue searching through the debris. Oxygen cylinders were also lowered into the rubble in an effort to reach anyone who may still be alive. Questions are mounting over the cause of the collapse, with reports pointing to ongoing renovation work, water accumulation in the basement and concerns over the building’s age and construction permissions. The Delhi government has suspended five MCD officers, while police have detained the building owner in Rajasthan and registered an FIR over alleged negligence and public safety violations.
